On Tuesday the
reigning Women’s Super League Champions Liverpool Ladies announced the signing
of England Under-19 international Martha Harris, formerly of Lincoln Ladies/
Notts County.
Last season Martha
Harris was named the Imps Player of the Season, following a campaign in which
Lincoln enjoyed a great run in the Continental Cup. Helping the Imps to the
final following a semi-final victory away at Liverpool, Lincoln were then
defeated 2-0 by Arsenal Ladies in the final despite a brilliant defensive
display.
Harris is a fantastic
defensive talent who has represented England throughout the age-groups and has
been included in the England U20 training camp for next summer’s U20 World Cup
– alongside Liverpool's Bethany Donoghue.
Along with the announcement of Harris' signing, players that are not returning to Liverpool for the 2014 season include Sarah Gregorius, Sarah Quantrill, Jess Holbrook, Rachel Laws and Whitney Engen. Good luck to all 5 of them with their new clubs!
To end on a positive note American midfielder Amanda Da Costa has signed a new contract and will be returning to Liverpool in January, while Natasha Dowie also confirmed on LFCTV's Thursday Night Live she will be back in 2014. When asked "You've played for plenty of clubs, do you feel like this is home now?", Natasha replied "Definitely, 100%... as soon as I moved to Liverpool I just loved it.. I can't see myself living anywhere else in England. I'm very happy".
